Ask the Researcher- Rheumatoid Arthritis and Exercise.

We will be joined by Dr Lesley- Anne Bissell to explore rheumatoid arthritis and exercise.

Lesley-Anne Bissell is a NIHR Clinical Lecturer within LIRMM researching methods to reduce CV risk in immune-mediated inflammatory disease.  Her PhD investigated the presence of subclinical cardiovascular disease in Rheumatoid Arthritis and Systemic Sclerosis (SSc) using soluble biomarkers and cardiovascular MRI, and reported the novel use of an implantable loop recorder in describing the prevalence and nature of arrhythmias in SSc.

A chance to hear:

  • Why exercise is good for reducing your risk of heart disease
  • About the practicalities of exercising with RA—what/how to do it, & exposing common myths
  • From patients about their experience with exercise
  • Our future research plans and improvements in service

And a chance to ask questions and get involved in our research study design
