Dominic Bertham

Senior Research MRI Radiographer

I have been an MRI radiographer for over 10 years and I’ve worked as a research MRI radiographer at Leeds BRC for 4 years.   My main tasks involve delivering MR images for BRC research projects on our state of the art 3 Tesla Magnetom Vida MRI scanner.  I assist senior researchers and study coordinators in high impact studies conducted primarily by Leeds Institute of Rheumatic and Musculoskeletal Medicine (LIRMM).  In 20I8/19 I was involved in the procurement of the BRC’s new 3T MRI scanner which was funded partly by Leeds cares and was installed in summer 2019.

I recently presented an abstract poster at the annual ISMRM (International Society for Magnetic Resonance in Medicine) conference which was based on the results of a primary research dissertation I conducted as part of an MSc in applied health research, which I gained in January 2021.  The study aimed to evaluate the variability of quantitative MRI measurements in thigh muscle regions of interest in an RA patient population.
