Highest International Award in Rheumatology Win for Professor McGonagle

Exciting news that our colleague Professor Dennis McGonagle, Honorary Consultant Rheumatologist and Deputy Director of The Leeds Institute of Rheumatic and Musculoskeletal Medicine (LIRMM), has won the highest prestigious international honour in Rheumatology!

Dennis was awarded the 2023 Carol Nachman Award in Weisbaden in Germany at the end of June, also making him the first Irish winner since the award began in 1972.

The award promotes clinical and experimental research in the different fields of rheumatology. Dennis has previously received the RCPI Medal in Bioengineering and the Pemberton Prize in Rheumatology (USA) and has published nearly 500 peer reviewed articles.

We are extremely lucky to have Dennis representing the Leeds BRC and this is a great reward for his many years of hard work and research in Rheumatology. Many congratulations!
