Be Part of Research

Be Part of Research is a UK-wide service that helps people find and take part in health and care research across nearly every health condition.

You can find out about current Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust research projects by visiting the Be Part of Research website and searching for “Leeds” in the top right search bar.

What is the difference between PPIEP and Be Part of Research?

It can be easy to confuse the different words we use to describe the activity we do with patients and the public, so to put it simply:

  • Involvement (PPI) shapes HOW and WHY research is undertaken.
  • PPE Engagement (PPE) is about sharing information relating to research.
  • Participation and ‘Be Part of Research’ focus on people being research participants.

Overall, the aim is to find out whether what is being tested is better than what is currently available. This can include therapies, medicines and services.

At the NIHR Leeds BRC, we use ‘PPIEP’ as they are all linked. We believe through good involvement and engagement we can improve the accessibility and relevance of research participation.
