Working with our partners the NIHR Leeds Clinical Research Facility and NIHR Healthtech Research Centre, and with the help of our patient and public contributors, we have developed a Patient and Public Involvement, Engagement, and Participation (PPIEP) strategy to run from 2022-2027. Patients and the public have been at the heart of what we do since the NIHR Leeds BRC began in 2008. In 2022, we were granted a new round of funding, and 5 new research themes, meaning our PPIEP team has also been able to expand and take on new responsibilities. You can learn more about the people working to support PPIEP at the NIHR Leeds BRC by visiting our ‘Meet the Team’ Page:
Our vision for Patient and Public Involvement, Engagement and Participation is to drive meaningful research led by the patient and public voice; to deliver research that is relevant, inclusive, and impactful to our communities, particularly those who are most at need.
Our objectives:
- Embed Public Partnerships and Coproduction in everything we do.
- Ensure that our PPIEP is representative of underserved communities.
- Build upon and increase awareness and engagement in research activity through tailored approaches.
- Recognise the contribution and value of Public Contributors
- Work as ‘one NIHR’ in the Leeds City region
- Plan, monitor and evaluate impact
