BRC members has collaborated with an internationally renowned award-winning artist to create a unique exhibition looking at the complex ecosystems of microbes.
Professor of Microbiology at University of Leeds, Jane Freeman, and BioArt pioneer Anna Dumitriu worked together on the exhibition looking at microbes and bacteria via sculptures, altered vintage objects, textiles and digital media.
Jane also took part in inoculating some of the materials in the exhibition with bacteria.
Anna is renowned for their use of real biological materials and microbes to look at new innovative ways of creating art from the lab and studio, exploring infectious disease, microbiology and antibiotics.
‘Fragile Microbiomes’ will be at the Thackray Medical Museum, Leeds from Mon, 19 February – Sun, 23 June 2024.
