New BRC Deputy Director appointed at NIHR Leeds BRC

The NIHR Leeds BRC is delighted to announce that Professor Sinisa Savic has been appointed as Deputy Director starting 1 November 2024.

Prior to his appointment, Professor Sinisa served as our NIHR Leeds Bioresource and Workstream 2 Haematology Theme lead. He works across Leeds Teaching Hospitals Trust and University of Leeds as Group Leader for Clinical and Translational immunology and Lead Clinician for Clinical Immunology and Allergy.

Professor Sinisa’s research interests focuses on the genetic basis of rare, inborn errors of immunity such as primary immunodeficiencies (PID) and systemic autoinflammatory disorders (SAID).

Sinisa is delighted to join the BRC and has said:  

“I am delighted to take up the post of Deputy Director of the Leeds BRC. In this role, I will continue to support our diverse early translational research programs and work closely with the BRC management team to develop our bid for the next round of BRC funding.”

Whilst congratulating Professor Sinisa, Prof Phil Conaghan (BRC Director) wanted to acknowledge the research excellence and contributions made by our outgoing Deputy Director, Prof Hemant Pandit:

“I would like to express on behalf of the BRC our thanks to Prof Hemant Pandit, outgoing BRC Deputy Director, for his invaluable work in the role. Hemant is stepping down to make room for his new Deputy Dean for Research role, though he will remain an integral part of the BRC through the Surgical Technology Theme as Workstream lead.”
